AAP Representatives at the conference in Tbilisi, Georgia

On 20-21 May 2016 the Georgian Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors (GFPAA) held an international conference to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The Accountants Association in Poland was also invited to this event. Our organization was represented by Mr Władysław Iwanyniuk, President of AAP Branch in Legnica, Member of the International Relations Commission, and Mr Radosław Ignatowski, Professor of the University of Łódź, Vice-head of the International Relations Commission.

AAP representatives in the Polish Accounting Standards Committee

On 13 May 2016 the Minister of Finance appointed new members for the next term of office (2016-2018) of the Accounting Standards Committee. The Accountants Association in Poland will be represented in the Committee by:
dr Teresa Cebrowska, Vice-president of AAP Board,
dr Zdzisław Fedak, Vice- chair of the Scientific Council of AAP
dr hab. Radosław Ignatowski, professor of the Łódź Economic University, Vice-head of AAP International Relations Commission who served in the ASC also in the previous terms of office.

The visit of the Ukrainian academics in the Regional Branch of AAP in Warsaw

On May 11, 2016 r in the headquarters of the Accountants Association in Poland’s Regional Branch in Warsaw took place the meeting with the Ukrainian academics: Natalia Tsaruk, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management at the University of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Nizhyn, Uliana Marchuk, PhD - lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of the National University of Agriculture in Vinnitsa and Serhiy Zabolotny, PhD - from the Faculty of Economics of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW).

Study visit on VAT schemes in Poland

DG TAXUD is currently undertaking a study on “Special scheme for small enterprises (micro-enterprises) under the VAT Directive 2006/112/EC. - Options for review”. In the frame of this study the meeting devoted to the issues of the special VAT schemes in Poland was held on 25 April 2016 at the headquarters of the Association of Accountants in Poland (AAP). The meeting had a form of an interview conducted for the European Commission by Mrs Anna Siede - representative of Deloitte Hamburg. The Association of Accountants in Poland was represented by Mrs Wieslawa Nahorniak - Vice-President of the Audit Committee of the AAP Regional Branch in Warsaw - and Mrs Danuta Olszewska and Mrs Dorota Wyczółkowska from the International Relations Department of AAP.

IES Translation into Polish

In January 2016 the Accountants Association in Poland translated and published the newest edition of the International Education Standards (1-8) under the agreement with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Four-tier certification system of accountants has been developed by AAP based on the IES.

V IFRS Conference

V IFRS Conference was held in Warsaw on 4 December 2015 under the slogan: Towards greater transparency in financial reporting. It was organized by the Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRRR) of the World Bank in cooperation with the Accountants Association in Poland. Among the speakers were the representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Poland, IASB, EFRAG and the World Bank. The members of the Polish listed companies applying IFRS (Zakłady Azotowe Puławy S.A. Orange S.A. ) and the prominent academics also took the floor. Almost 200 participants attended the conference.

Educational workshops regarding IFRS

On November 6, 2015 at the Educational Center Kopernik was held the fifth edition of the educational workshops dedicated to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The workshop has been organized by the World Bank together with the IFRS Foundation and the Accountants Association in Poland. The idea of the workshop was to prepare the academic lecturers and AAP teachers for effective, based on the Framework IFRS teaching addressed to students, candidates preparing for the accounting profession and practicing accountants attending the courses to increase the skills. The workshop was attended by 65 academics representing academia from all over Poland. gallery

Agreement with the Association of Accountants and Auditors of Republic of Srpska

The Accountants Association in Poland (AAP) concluded a memorandum of understanding with the Association of Accountants and Auditors of Republic of Srpska. The purpose of the memorandum is to strengthen good relations and cooperation between AAP and AAARS.

Accountancy Profession Strategic Forum 2014

On 7 and 8 of April 2014 professional accountancy organizations from the whole Europe met in Warsaw to attend Accountancy Profession Strategic Forum (APSF). The Forum was organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) with cooperation of two Polish host organizations: the Accountants Association in Poland and the National Chambers of Statutory Auditors. The participants discussed how PAOs can evolve to adapt to the changing reality, how they can meet the needs of national economies and how they should plan their future development and cooperation with each other. The roundtable debate allowed for active participation and exchange of views. In addition, the World Bank, IFAC, FEE, the European Commission and the representatives of business and regulators in Poland contributed to the discussion. APSF 2014 gathered 65 participants.
APSF 2014 was the third Accountancy Profession Strategic Forum after the events in Sinaia, Romania, and Sofia, Bulgaria. The next Forum, APSF 2015, will take place in Greece. Photo gallery

New Authorities of the Accountants Association in Poland

On 24 February 2014 new elections to the Main Board took place due to the death of Zbigniew Messner, the President of the Main Board. Franciszek Wala, former vice-president, was elected the new president. Jerzy Koniecki, the president of the Branch Office in Warsaw, became the new vice-president. Teresa Cebrowska is the second vice-president, Stefan Czerwiński is a secretary and Edward Kosakowski is a treasurer. Waldemar Molenda from the Branch Office in Warsaw became the member of the Main Board as he was the next person with the highest number of votes gained in the elections on the XX National Assembly of Delegates.

EFRAG outreach event in Poland

On May 15, the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), the UK Accounting Standard Board, the Italian Standard Setter – Organismo Italiano di Contabilita (OIC) and the Polish Accounting Standards Committee (KSR) held their joint outreach event on the discussion papers 'Business Combinations under Common Control' and 'Improving Financial Reporting of Income Tax'. The meeting was organised in cooperation with the Accountants Association in Poland and the National Chamber of Statutory Auditors. The event was another initiative undertaken within EFRAG's proactive activities aimed at stimulating broader discussion.
