Accountancy Profession Strategic Forum 2014

On 7 and 8 of April 2014 professional accountancy organizations from the whole Europe met in Warsaw to attend Accountancy Profession Strategic Forum (APSF). The Forum was organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) with cooperation of two Polish host organizations: the Accountants Association in Poland and the National Chambers of Statutory Auditors. The participants discussed how PAOs can evolve to adapt to the changing reality, how they can meet the needs of national economies and how they should plan their future development and cooperation with each other. The roundtable debate allowed for active participation and exchange of views. In addition, the World Bank, IFAC, FEE, the European Commission and the representatives of business and regulators in Poland contributed to the discussion. APSF 2014 gathered 65 participants.
APSF 2014 was the third Accountancy Profession Strategic Forum after the events in Sinaia, Romania, and Sofia, Bulgaria. The next Forum, APSF 2015, will take place in Greece. Photo gallery

New Authorities of the Accountants Association in Poland

On 24 February 2014 new elections to the Main Board took place due to the death of Zbigniew Messner, the President of the Main Board. Franciszek Wala, former vice-president, was elected the new president. Jerzy Koniecki, the president of the Branch Office in Warsaw, became the new vice-president. Teresa Cebrowska is the second vice-president, Stefan Czerwiński is a secretary and Edward Kosakowski is a treasurer. Waldemar Molenda from the Branch Office in Warsaw became the member of the Main Board as he was the next person with the highest number of votes gained in the elections on the XX National Assembly of Delegates.

EFRAG outreach event in Poland

On May 15, the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), the UK Accounting Standard Board, the Italian Standard Setter – Organismo Italiano di Contabilita (OIC) and the Polish Accounting Standards Committee (KSR) held their joint outreach event on the discussion papers 'Business Combinations under Common Control' and 'Improving Financial Reporting of Income Tax'. The meeting was organised in cooperation with the Accountants Association in Poland and the National Chamber of Statutory Auditors. The event was another initiative undertaken within EFRAG's proactive activities aimed at stimulating broader discussion.
